Get Wishing was declared a non runner by the stewards at Chepstow this afternoon after a freak accident in the paddock.

The jockey had mounted and was walking out of the paddock approaching the shute leading to the racecourse when the horse in his excitement spun his hind quarters out catching the end of the approaching rail which completely up ended him.

Luckily his jockey was not injured and Get Wishing appears to be fine and the stewards took the decision to withdraw the horse.

I understand why they had to do so but it was galling for connections as this was his main target and he was in great form.

The situation was not helped by verbal abuse from one member of the crowd, this type of behaviour unfortunately seems to be more common these days.
