River Bray fulfilled his potential in spread eagling the field in the opener at Wincanton on Saturday. He beat some highly regarded rivals but has unfortunately been treated accordingly by the handicapper. Time will tell whether the 15lb rise (which gives him a mark of 136) is justified or whether the performance was as much to do with the superb front running ride from Ciaran Gethings.

Admiral’s Secret was travelling strongly in a close third when he fell three out. Luckily he and James Best were both unscathed and at least he has shown he is competitive at the 0 – 150 level.

Sweet Adare has her first run after her wind operation at Taunton today providing the ground is not too quick. She is working well at home and I hope that she will soon show her full potential on a racecourse.
