Admiral’s Secret emphatic victory at Leicester proved to be a careers best with the handicapper raising him to 131. I had expected him to go higher as he was impeded four from home. That was his third good run this season and it seems the change of routine at home has sweetened him up. Although he coped well with the heavy ground and the 2m 4f, I think better ground will suit him more. Hopefully he will get this at Wincanton on February 26th where he is due to contest 2m 4f handicap chase. On the same card Minnie Escape will run in the mares handicap hurdle and although she had gone up another 10 lbs she should give a good account of herself.

Last Sunday Sweet Adare finished a running on second at Taunton under her double penalty in the mares novice hurdle. She was no match for the impressive winner who was a Ffos Llas winner and obviously appreciates heavy ground. Sweet Adare never looked at ease on the ground and she will appreciate better conditions which hopefully she will get on February 18th at the same course.
