We were all delighted with Dancing Shadow at Exeter. It was only going to be a prep run for his attempt at the Borders National at Kelso in December and it was good to see him run so well, making all under Nick Scholfield, in the two miles five and a half furlongs novices hurdle, sponsored by Tom Malone Bloodstock. There are various targets in the spring that he could go for, including the Grand National if he is rated high enough.
We had bad luck at Chepstow in Le Beau Bai & Mountainous Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase with Admiral’s Secret nearly brought down at the second fence which knocked him right out of the race. Nick got him back into a rhythm to make sure he hadn’t lost his confidence and then pulled him up before the sixth. He’ll go to Kempton on Monday. Tomorrow Ut Majeur Aulmes goes in the two miles handicap chase with Dicky Johnson riding him.
Darloa will go to Uttoxeter again on Friday and hopefully he can go one better than his last run where he was beaten on the run-in.
