This is always an exciting time of year with the National Hunt season due to start properly in October.

All the horses are looking very well and are getting fitter by the day. They are weighed once a week and as they near their racing weight their weight stabilises within 2-3 kilos a week.

The weather has just broken and the ground should become suitable for most of the horses to run before too long. Haldon Hill will probably be the first to run on 4 October at Uttoxeter followed by Sweet Adair (for possibly his first run over fences) at Ffos Las and River Bray who is on course for his target race at the big Chepstow meeting in the second week of October.

We are hoping to take 4 horses to Salisbury for a racecourse gallop and they will include Atjima, Hartnoll Hero and Exmoor Express. Schooling has progressed this week with Get Wishing and Bindon Lane schooling over fences.

We have 2 flat-bred 2 year-olds both by Cannock Chase who have been broken in and are working well. The first, Melador will probably run this autumn – she is a well bred filly out of a Dutch Art mare who is offered for sale and can be seen on the Horses for Sale page.
