Minnie Escape returns to Southwell today in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle. She ran well here in the Autumn and finished fourth in the bumper with form horses in behind her. She had a confidence issue after falling in her first run over hurdles afterwards and has taken a few runs to get back on track. Today maybe a little on the short side for her but she is in great order at home and I am hoping for an improved performance.
Howardian Hills runs at Bath over 1m 2f, blinkers applied and Luke Morris has been booked to ride. He has ridden the horse once before when he won at Wolverhampton. I am hoping the drop in trip will be the key as he always seems to be flattening out over the last two of the twelve furlongs of 1m 4f. This is what happened on his last run in Jersey where he had problems with the tight track and ran well to finish fourth. This performance must have been affected by the bad journey which lasted 30 hours due to a ferry cancellation. He arrived in Jersey only a few hours before the race.
